The League

The League is one of my favorite shows of all time, including anime and Korean Dramas. It was produced by FX and later FXX and aired from October 29, 2009 to December 9, 2015. It had quite the run and brought many laughs along the way. I should mention this right now, the humor in it is not for everyone. The humor is pretty messed up and not for the easily offended. Now that we got through that, let’s discuss.

Synopsis

So the League is about a group of friends in Chicago who have known each other since they were kids and centered on their intertwined lives during the fantasy football season. Each season of the show is during one fantasy football season, so the fall of each year. There are six main characters: Pete, Kevin, Ruxin, Jenny, Taco, and Andre, and a memorable supporting cast including Ruxin, Dirty Randy, Sofia, and Shiva.

Highlights

This show is straight up hilarious, however the humor is not for everyone. It epitomizes the type of humor that comes from a very close group of friends that enjoy making fun of each other. I’m not sure everyone can relate to that, but I can. That is probably part of its charm for me. Furthermore, the actors have amazing chemistry together making the show seem natural. It isn’t weird that the entire group makes fun of Andre and that Andre takes it gracefully because of how the cast interacts with each other. Additionally, the show has produced some amazing one-liners. Some examples are, “FOREVER UNCLEAN”, “I SMELL COLLUSION!”, and “SHIVA KAMINI SOMA KANDA KRAM”. And you can’t forget the catchy songs that you can’t get out of your head like “Mr. McGibblets song” and any song Taco sings.

Wrap-up
